Exploring electromobility and photovoltaics in the virtual home

In which case, does the acquisition of a photovoltaic plant pay off? How can electromobility and existing systems be effectively combined? What are the most important parameters for the efficient connection of e-mobility and living? Answers to these and other questions are now vividly provided by a new training software developed by scienceintermedia on behalf of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

In a interactive model of a family house with adjustable components, the visitors can make settings for the individual components and then start the calculation.

In addition to the performance characteristics of the different building blocks (energy production & demand), the overall economic survey is calculated. The investment costs are compared under different framework conditions (eg subsidies, energy market development and inflation rate) on the revenue side and the armortization period is presented. The users are actively shown how the dimensioning and composition of the components in the interaction results in very different results and which constellation is most suitable for the individual usage profile. All variables can be freely changed and the various scenarios can be evaluated successively. The application is designed as a stationary solution for use within training as well as for online use.

The focus of the IFAM training program, which is equally aimed at architects, builders and homeowners, is the efficient use of electromobility in a systemic environment of photovoltaics, temporary storage and electric vehicles in the Smart Home. It is intended to provide the participants a basic understanding of the technologies used in Smart Home and their efficient use so that they can be better integrated into their practice in the future.

The participants receive an overview of the current developments in the area of the integration of systemic solutions into private households. For this purpose, they test the interplay of electromobility, photovoltaic systems and temporary storage in the Smart Home.

Research at Fraunhofer IFAM
The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Applied Materials Research IFAM conducts research and development on various aspects of electromobility. In addition to working with electrical drive systems and energy storage systems, researchers are looking at the cost-effectiveness of electric vehicles in everyday life and are developing solutions for the integration of networked energy systems into private households.

The application is based on a comprehensive calculation program of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, which enables the targeted manipulation of the parameters to the various components involved.
